Concept Statement:
A production is only as strong as its vision. No matter what your predisposition and thoughts about A Midsummer Night's Dream are, this show drew inspiration from a different direction. Through the eyes of our director Kemar Jewel, we were challenged to combine the worlds of ballroom culture and Shakespeare. He trusted us to put our best creative foot forward and take charge to put on a fabulous display. One must not forget the magic of the text when put into this world. Politics between Athens and the Magical forest push this plot forward and it does in a super fun and outlandish way. The lighting, projections, and sound worked together to cross the boundary of a colorless world to one where anything is possible.
